Stories...

I am David (Shyen) Green

We all have so many stories; stories we choose to share, stories that we keep hidden and stories that weave and braid together into the tapestry of our lives.

The story of AwiKanta is of three tributaries braiding into one river.

Tributary number one, is a story of exploration into new paradigms in education to include having had the privilege of working in some of the most innovative educational environments and cultures in the world, perhaps most notably time spent working at Green School Bali.

The second stream is a health journey that entails the unravelling of the mysteries of a condition named functional neurological disorder (FND) by developing a salutogenic approach to wellbeing (with sound and nature connection at its core) that enables me to manage the physiological aspects of the condition, as well as learning to acknowledge and be grateful to my body for its intelligence and guidance.

The confluence is completed by a third tributary; a spiritual journey, informed by so many wonderful teachers, practices and places...

...the story continues to unfold; a lifelong inquiry into the question of what it means to be human and the pursuit of truth, beauty and morality that I intend to continue to share within the spheres of education and wellbeing.

An online talk by Charles Eisenstein, author of, ‘The more beautiful world our hearts know is possible’, really resonates with me. In it he states;

“...what we know how to do is insufficient to the task [of creating a more beautiful, unified world]. Part of our journey to a more beautiful world is the discovery of new capacities, new sources of information and solutions; not only to the questions we carry today but to the questions that will be born through our journey into the future.”

With gratitude to all of those with whom I have lived the questions to date, and all of those with whom I look forward to exploring in future. With love and reverence to sound, to music and to the land.

Ecosonicology

Ecosonicology is used to refer to the infinite interconnections between humans, sound and the more than human world - and the integral nature of these connections.

AwiKanta

AwiKanta
'Kindly Together'

The name, 'Awi Kanta' draws upon the incredible work of Carolyn Hillyer in creating a Proto-Celtic to English lexion. It is derived from the Proto-Celtic kirtan chant that I have written / received from the land by the same name:

Adsoro ad wradjo

(Return to root)
