Meditation; Anyhow, anywhere, anyway you choose...
Why learn meditation with David (Shyen) at AwiKanta...
Learn meditation with me to explore the wonderful world of meditation and be supported in finding the approaches, traditions and techniques that work best for you.
Meditation practices are as old as humanity and are wonderfully diverse, influenced as they are by the varying cultures in which they evolved to include the five major religions.
Despite this great diversity of practices and cultural origins, until quite recently the ‘West’ appears to have focused on just a few, with mindfulness meditation arguably dominating. It was not until the 1970s that two different approaches became commonly known in Western culture. Jon Kabat-Zinn is credited with developing the MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) program. At a similar time, Transcendental Meditation, founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was growing in popularity, and was famously studied by The Beatles.

Fast forward to the present day and the western world is both increasingly aware of different meditation and cultural practices, as well as having made technological advancements that enable the study of its effects to include evidence of its physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits.

Whilst this huge diversity of approaches can at first seem confusing or daunting, I am confident that learning to meditate with me will demystify the topic and empower you to follow a meditation pathway that works for you.

The courses are secular in approach, provide an introduction to many traditions and cultures, both old and new, and are constantly evolving in response to new ideas, approaches, research and, most importantly, your needs.
